Scorpions

Najpoznatiji po svojoj himni iz 1984. "Rock You Like a Hurricane" i baladi iz 1990. "Wind of Change", nemački rokeri Scorpions prodali su više od 22 miliona ploča, što ih čini jednim od najuspešnijih rock bandova iz kontinentalnog dela Evrope.
Band je 1969. godine osnovao Rudolf Schenker, a originalna se postava sastojala od Schenkera na ritam gitari koji je i pevač, Karl-Heinza Follmera na lead-gitari, Lothara Heimberga na basu i Wolfganga Dzionyja na bubnjevima. Godine 1971. Schenkerov mlađi brat Michael ulazi u band da svira ritam gitaru, a dobar prijatelj Klaus Meine postaje novi pevač. Grupa je 1972. snimila Lonesome Crow, koji je poslužio kao soundtrack za nemački film Das Kalte Paradies. Iako su prošli dosta nezapaženo, uočio ih je sastav UFO i angažovao Michaela Schenkera da im svira na gitari. On stoga 1973. napušta band, a na njegovo mesto dolazi Uli Jon Roth. Grupa s njim obavljuje četiri albuma za RCA: Fly to the Rainbow (1974.), In Trance (1975.), Virgin Killer (1976.) i Taken by Force (1977.). Ti su albumi postigli priličnu popularnost u Japanu. Godine 1978. grupa snima dvostruki živi album Tokyo Tapes. Roth odlazi iz banda, a vraća se Michael Schenker. Grupa 1979. potpisuje za Mercury Records i objavljuje Lovedrive. Album je zabranjen u SAD zbog seksualno eksplicitnog omota. Zbog čestih problema s drogom i alkoholom Michaela u bandu zamenjuje Matthias Jabs.
Godine 1980. grupa objavljuje album Animal Magnetism te kreće na drugu svetsku turneju. Taj album u SAD postaje zlatan. Dve godine posle objavljuju Blackout koji se samo u SAD prodaje u više od milion primeraka. No u zvezdanu orbitu ih izbacuje njihov sledeći album, Love at First Sting (1984.). S tog je albuma i MTV singl "Rock You Like a Hurricane", a album vrlo brzo postaje dvostruko platinast.
Po objavljivanju albuma World Wide Live (1985.) grupa se povlači na dve godine. Njihov deseti studijski album, Savage Amusement, objavljen je 1988., a na njemu se nalazi i hit-balada "Rhythm of Love". Album Crazy World iz 1990. postaje njihov najprodavaniji album zahvaljujući baladi "Wind of Change".
Kada 1993. objavljuju album Face the Heat, njihovi obožavatelji gube interes zbog buma alternative početkom 90-ih. Album je ipak postao zlatan, a 1995. Scorpionsi objavljuju još jedan live album Live Bites. S basistom Ralphom Rieckermannom i bubnjarom Jamesom Kottakom 1996. objavljuju Pure Instinct. Mercury Records kompiliraju Deadly String: The Mercury Years, dvostruki album s najvećim hitovima, objavljen 1997. godine. U ljeto 1999. izlazi album Eye II Eye u kojem eksperimentisu s pop-tehno melodijama. U jesen 2000. snimaju Moment of Glory s Berlinskim filharmoničarima.
